GRFD Responds to Marcel Paper Plant Fire In Elmwood Park

Saturday, June 25, 2016 16:46 Members of the GRFD were requested to Elmwood Park for a fire at the Marcel Paper Plant. Engine 833 and Chief Jennings (830) responded. Members assisted in opening up and access the fire.

Monday, June 20, 2016 17:00  Engine 833 (Lt. Pimlott) and Assistant Chief Zanotti respond to Paramus to provide coverage while they fought a 3rd alarm structure fire.

   


 

GRFD Provides Coverage for Hawthorn FD's 100th Anniversary

Saturday, June 18, 2016 10:00 Engine 831 stood by in Hawthorne provide coverage while the Hawthorne Fire Department celebrated it's 100th Anniversary. Congrats to the officers and members of HFD for a century of dedicated service!

     



 

GRFD Assists with VFW Flag Retirement Cermony

Saturday, June 18, 2016 09:00  In a busy morning for the GRFD, members assisted the VFW in the annual flag retirement ceremony. Thx to the VFW for tending to a proper disposal of worn flags!

   


 

Busy Sunday for the GRFD

Monday, June 6, 2016  The Glen Rock Fire Department had a busy Sunday on June 5th, 2016. Members of the department stood by in Fire Headquarters from 11:00 AM till 4:30 PM providing coverage for the Fair Lawn Fire Department while they attended a funeral for one their Life Members and past Fire Marshall. Chief Jennings (830), Assistant Chief Zanotti), and Ladder 832 (Lt. Pimlott) responded to two calls in Fair Lawn one an activated fire alarm due to cook and a reported smoke condition in the area of which was a BBQ in the backyard. The department then responded to back to back calls in the evening an activated fire alarm on Buckingham place at 18:06, an activated fire alarm on Harristown Road at 18:28, Smoke coming from an Oven on Delmar ave at 19:11, and an odor of smoke and smoke condition on the Boulevard at 20:31

   


 

GRFD Provides Mutual Aid Coverage During Fatal Fair Lawn 2nd Alarm Fire

Wednesday, June 1, 2016 23:57  On Wednesday June 1st, 2016 at approximately 11:57 PM members of the GRFD were requested to standby in Fire Headquarters to provide mutual aid coverage for the Borough of Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn had a 2nd Alarm Fire. Monday, May 30, 2016   On Monday May 30th members of the Glen Rock Fire Department participated in the town's Memorial Day Parade.

GRFD Assists in Elevator Rescue

Wednesday, August 19, 2015  The GRFD was dispatched to a report of a person stuck in an elevator at the Bank of America Building on 208 Harristown Road.   Upon arrival, Rescue 834 (Capt. Aguilar) consulted with building representatives and determined the elevator was between the first and second floor with a single occupant entrapped.  Given the position of the elevator car, it was determined that rescue via the hoistway doors would be difficult.   A representative from the elevator service company assisted in safely lowering the elevator to the first floor.  Thanks to Hawthorne Engine 4 for their always valuable assistance.  

   


 

GRFD Participates in Central Bergen Mutual Aid Drill

Tuesday, August 18, 2015 19:00 The GRFD participated in a Central Bergen Mutual Aid Drill.   The drill was hosted by Elmwood Park FD and involved numerous towns flowing water from aerial and master streams.   Ladder 832 (Capt. Aguilar) was paired up with a Rochelle Park Engine.   The drill will help Elmwood Park understand what water needs and limitations exist at the drill location in the event of a major fire.   830 (Chief Jennings) and 840 (Asst. Chief Zanotti) also participated in the drill.   Special thanks to Elmwood Park for being great hosts!
